William's obituary

William E. Wilkinson, 91, of Syosset, NY, passed away on January 6, 2023.

Bill was born on June 21, 1931 to Margaret and W. Frank Wilkinson in Brooklyn, NY. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He met Eileen Nolan while vacationing in Sound Beach, NY and they wed in 1952, going on to have five children, William, Robert, Thomas, Pamela, and Carolyn.

Bill was unendingly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bill retired from his lifelong career as owner of a six-generation family business, Wilkinson Construction, his keystone development being Yankee Stadium. Bill was also a passionate trumpeter, leading Bill Wilkinson and the Long Island Sound Swing Band and could often be found with its members when he wasn’t at home. Bill was the President of the Syosset Spartans for eighteen years, and led his little league team to win the New York State championship in 1972-1973. He enjoyed golfing, his thoroughbread race horses, and spending time with his friends and family. Anyone who knew Bill knew that he was the most loving brother, father, and grandfather a family could ask for.

Bill is survived by his brother, Thomas Wilkinson, five children, fifteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Please join us in remembering Bill.
