Bill's obituary

William (Bill) passed away on July 10 surrounded by his wife and daughters after a brief battle against cancer. He was born on December 9, 1949 to parents Louise and William McQuilkin Sr of Portsmouth, New Hampshire where he grew up with his five sisters. After graduating from Portsmouth High School in 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army. Following his release from the service in 1971, he moved to Maine. He then had his first three children with his first wife. William III was born in 1972, followed by Clayton in 1974, and Darcey Crossman (McQuilkin) in 1976.

After some time, he met his wife Carole Fish, who he met on a blind date set up by mutual friends. He always bragged that he knew he wanted to marry her and proposed a mere eight days after they met. They married 6 months later on August 23, 1986.

Bill and Carole had two daughters together, Abbey Cross in 1991 and Kattie Patnaude in 1993. Bill and Carole settled down in Albion, Maine and raised their children there.

He was employed by Central Maine Power for over 20 years. He enjoyed his time with his coworkers and would always talk about the different experiences and adventures he would experience at work. He would later retire from CMP after working in several different jobs and locations.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to go deer hunting on his father-in-law's property in Benton and fish in the Bingham Dam and Lovejoy Pond. His love of the outdoors would go on to his children and grandchildren, teaching them everything he knew.

Bill was always able to make friends and could hold a conversation with anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his mother Louise, father William Sr, sisters Donna, Carol, Betty and Barbara. He is survived by his wife Carole, daughters; Darcey, Abbey, and Kattie, sons; Bill and Clayton, and his grandchildren; Hali, Anna, Magdalena, Aiden, Lucas, Lincoln, and Ava.

Thank you to the staff at Oak Grove Nursing Facility for caring for Bill in his final days. We appreciate the comfort and support you were able to give during such a trying time for our family.
