William's obituary

William Edgar (Ed) Wilkerson (Sept 25, 1928—Dec 26, 2023)

Ed passed away at age 95 in San Antonio on the afternoon of December 26. He was a business analyst and at times a professional piano player. He had a remarkable musical talent; he could play any song by ear and in any key. He wrote a musical, Tom Sawyer, that was produced in New Orleans LA and Kirkwood MO, and a musical rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance.

The sisters, doctor and staff at St. Francis Nursing Home, where he spent his last six years, were compassionate and generous of spirit. Thanks to their loving care, he continued to live life to its fullest to the end.

Ed was born in St. Louis Missouri, and was a graduate of Kirkwood High School (1946), and University of Missouri (1952). He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin John Wilkerson and Mary Elinor Walters Wilkerson, his first wife Frances Anne Macleay Wilkerson, his daughter Susan Deborah Brooks (nee Wilkerson) (Peter Brooks), and his brothers Marvin Bruce Wilkerson and John Stubbs Wilkerson. He is survived by brother, Wade Walters Wilkerson (Joan), son Lachlan Macleay (Ellen), daughter Lynne Wilkerson (Basil Scaljon), his second wife, Marilyn Mackenzie, their son Derek Andrew William Mackenzie Wilkerson, and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

His remains will be interred in the columbarium at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Francis Nursing Home, 630 W. Woodlawn, San Antonio, TX 78212.
