Bill's obituary
William Dean (Bill) Miller, age 87, and formerly of Marshall, Virginia died in his home in Provo, Utah on October 11, 2021. He passed away peacefully after a brief illness from causes incident to his advanced age.
Bill was born July 29, 1934 in Washington DC. He was a 1952 graduate of Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, and a 1956 graduate of the College of William and Mary. He served as an officer in the US Navy. In addition to training in Michigan and Rhode Island, he was most proud of his North Atlantic and Mediterranean cruises, from which he drew a life time of great stories for his family and friends. He served aboard the destroyers USS English and the USS Robinson 1956-1961. After his service in the navy, Bill enjoyed a successful career in sales, working for Alcoa and then Mueller Brass Company where he worked for more than 30 years, retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, June (Butterfield) Miller, their daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Shon Whitney of Provo, Utah, and their son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Miller of Roanoke, Texas, eleven grandchildren (Sam, Sarah, McKenzie, Michael, Jackie, Maddy, Katie, Nathan, Jacob, Lacy and Joey) and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear sister and brother-in-law Dorcas and Ken Lounsbery of Escondido, California, storm children nephews and nieces Bobby Miller (Paige), David Miller (Karen), Dan Lounsbery (Lani) and Anne Lounsbery-Scaiffe (John), as well as many special friends and family, especially those whom he so missed in Watkins Glen, NY in recent years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry Hays and Margery Lucille (Cobean) Miller and his brother, Jim.
Everyone who knew him will agree that Bill was the life of any party and an instant friend to all. We will always remember his wit and friendly grin. In lieu of funeral services, a private ceremony will be held in his memory in Gettysburg, PA at a later date.
