William Ronald Dawson, devoted Husband, and loving Father passed away on September 5, 2021. William (Bill) Dawson was born to Claude and Elizabeth Dawson in Hannibal, NY on June 1, 1934. He was the oldest of 6 children. William, Gary, Marcia, Nancy, Barry, and Beth. Bill met his sweetheart Marlene Demass during high school band class where they both played trombone. Bill would sit next to Marlene, where she would often whisper answers to him as at that time) he couldn't read music very well. After High School Bill enlisted in the United States Navy where he served 4 years of active duty, followed by another 28 years in the Naval Reserve, reaching the rank of CUCM Master Chief Petty Officer in the Construction Battalion (proudly known as the Seabees). Bill and Marlene were married in 1954 and spent 67 years together until the Lord took them home. They adopted a son in 1966, William Ronald Dawson Jr. who resides in Mount Dora, Florida with his wife Rhonda. Bill spent his life doing what he loved, serving the Lord, serving his country, and caring for his family. He loved to sing and was gifted by God with a beautiful singing voice, which he utilized at many churches, either in the choir or as a tenor soloist. He was truly a man among men who was loved by friends and family and well-respected by the men who served with, and under his command in the United States Navy. On the evening of August 29th, 2021 while living in an assisted living facility with his wife Marlene, Bill sustained a fall that severely injured his hip. He was taken to the hospital, then moved to the Cornerstone Hospice facility in Tavares Florida 5 days later to be with Marlene, whose health took an unexpected downturn the morning after his fall. Bill's wife Marlene, passed away on September 5th at 12:05 am, and Bill followed her home to Glory at 1:05 pm.
