Bill was born in Woodland Washington. His father was born in 1908 in Seattle, Washington and his mother was born in 1911 in Sellindge, England. Bill grew up in Corvallis, Oregon where his father was a professor of forestry at Oregon State University. He earned a BS degree in mechanical engineering in 1969 and a MS degree in management science in 1971, both from Oregon State University. Bill worked in executive positions in the forest …
