William Michael Bobbish - devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many - passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of 72 in Canton, Michigan after a brief battle with cancer.
William Michael, also known as "Willie" by friends and "Mike" by family, was born on October 25th, 1949 in Garden City, Michigan. He graduated from Garden City High School- East in 1968. He started his career as a tool and die maker and soon became the foreman of his shop and then eventually went into business for himself. In the 1990's he transitioned to working in the family business, Elite Eyecare. He met his beloved wife, Kathleen "Kathie” Bobbish, née Kenzie, in the late 1970's through their children (Kim, Keith, Mike, and Rex) who were neighborhood friends in Novi, Michigan. They married in 1983 and spent the next 39 years together creating a beautiful family and a network of amazing friends.
Through the years, Mike enjoyed golfing and vacationing with his wife, kids, grandkids, and his many friends. He was a devoted father and grandfather who coached little league baseball, ran concession stands, attended every sporting event, music concert, and theatrical performance in which his kids and grandkids participated. Never one to shy away from a challenge, in his early 60's Mike started his own band where he sang vocals and played guitar.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Ida Kastl (née McLeod) and John, step-father Roy Kastl, as well as his sisters Joyce and Carol, brother "Sonny", and grandsons Jourdan and Blake. He is survived by his wife, Kathie, their children Kim (Tim), Keith (Kristin), Mike, and Rex (Adi); his sisters Ruth, June, Donna, and Jacki; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jillian (Zaid), Jaynee, Zachary, and Alexandria; and, his great-granddaughter Sophia.
In his memory, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at St. James Catholic Church (46325 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48374) on Saturday, October 29th. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:30am, the service will begin at 11:00am.
