Bill's obituary
William (Bill) Toney, 70, of Plant City, FL passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, in Brandon, Florida. Bill was born in Beckley, West Virgina, and moved to Plant City, Florida with his family when he was 5 years old. He attended Springhead Elementary School and graduated from Plant City High School in 1970.
He married Bonnie Ward of Camp Lejeune, NC in 1978, who he is survived by, and together they had two daughters: Kristen Campbell (Jerrod) and Brittany Fenner (Robert). He is also survived by granddaughters Gracelynne, Madelynne and Brooklyn, and brother Clifford (Sherron), sisters Charlotte (Bill), Opal (Doug) and Brenda (Ricky), and a host of nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Dewey and Lovina Toney.
He worked as a building contractor, a general handyman, and spent quite a few years working in the maintenance department at USAA Insurance in Tampa. When he wasn't working, Bill enjoyed home projects, watching classic westerns, going to movies by himself (living in a house full of women must have contributed to that) and doing literally anything within his power to help others in need in the name of Jesus.
Bill was also a licensed minister. Throughout his life he attended Christ Center Fellowship in Seffner, Faith Assembly of God in Plant City and Plant City Church of God, where he preached, taught Sunday Schools, manned nurseries, ushered, and did countless maintenance and improvement projects around the facilities.
Bill requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to a traditional funeral service. Please join us on April 3, 2023 @ 10am, at Plant City Church of God (2103 Mud Lake Road, Plant City, FL 33566).
In leui of flowers, Bill requested that donations be made to the Smoky Mountain Children's Home.
