Jerry's obituary

With hearts of sadness while simultaneously full of hope- we share the passing of a wonderful man, father, son, brother, friend and of course…”Papa.”

Wiley Gerald Latham was born March 18, 1958 and ran to the arms of Jesus on August 5, 2024. We were blessed with Jerry for 66 years here on Earth.

If you knew Jerry, you knew he adored his family, watching football with his friends, staying on the beach all day long, golf, cooking up Jerbo-burgers on his grill, and so much more. He loved hard and he loved fiercely. He was a man who felt emotions deeply. He was a man who cared for others greatly and had a heart of gold. A tall, giant “teddy bear” as his mom referred to him, who wouldn’t hurt a fly. He was silly and fun and would do anything to make his kids laugh- even if it was at his own expense. You couldn’t meet him and not love him. That’s Jerry.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Jessica Molay, Carlee Swing, and Jerrod Latham. His grandchildren, Selah and Jane and his son in laws Kendal Molay and Jordan Swing and soon to be daughter in law, Leah Lecroy. He leaves behind his loving mother, Virginia Martinelli, sisters Olivia Martinelli Gue and Alyssa McManus and his love Sherrill Howland.

We will celebrate Jerry’s life on Monday, September 2, 5 pm at Ferus in Trussville. We will celebrate his life and his love with some of his favorite things: family, friends, food and football. We invite his friends and family to join us to celebrate his life.

We will always remember Jerry’s deep love and caring heart for those around him and never miss an opportunity to tell someone we love them. Just like Jerry.
