Wil's obituary
Wilbur Guy Streams, 79, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025.
Wilbur (Wil) was born on November 22, 1945 to William Guy Streams and Esther Elizabeth Rilling Streams in Spangler, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Purchase Line High School in Commodore, Pennsylvania in 1963. After high school, he attended Swarthmore College where he captained an undefeated football team, met the love of his life, Edith DuBose Streams, and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968. Following graduation he worked for Philadelphia Electric Company developing the use of LNG (liquid natural gas) to power the company’s vehicle fleet. In 1971 he enrolled at Cornell University’s Johnson School of Management, receiving an MBA in 1973. Wil used his engineering and management expertise in a variety of management and executive roles for National Castings, which became ABC-NACO, a steel foundry business that supplied couplers and undercarriages for rail cars.
After retiring in 2006, Wil spent time woodworking, reading, volunteering for Book’em and delighting in his grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, taking in sporting events, and all that the family lake house had to offer.
Wil was a devoted husband who supported his wife’s athletic, academic, and career pursuits and dutifully rototilled a garden for her each season; a wonderful father whose sons were his pride and joy and the best of his life’s work; a loving grandfather, who never grew tired of holding his infant grandchildren or hearing stories of their adventures as they grew; and an excellent human who was kind, reliable, and good to everyone he met along his life’s journey. Wil was a natural leader, at all stages of his life, who never needed the spotlight to know his worth in the world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edith DuBose Streams; his two sons Nicholas G. Streams (Jennifer) and Michael J. Streams (Jill); five grandchildren: Grandpa to Tyler, Adam, and Garrett Streams, and Papa to Lorelai and Alexander Streams; two brothers: Frederick and Gary Streams.
He was predeceased by his parents (Guy and Esther), three brothers: Gerald, Clifford and Leslie Streams and his sister Janet Travers.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life for him at some future date.
