Wilbert's obituary
Wilbert "Bert" Chynoweth, 85, of Ocala, FL, passed away on October 04, 2022 after an incredibly fulfilled life and long battles with cancer.
Bert was born on March 16, 1937 to Elsie and Wilbert Chynoweth of West Bloomfield, MI. After graduating from Walled Lake High School in 1955, he went on to study accounting at Alma College. Bert landed his first job as a truck driver and drove various routes as a proud member of the Teamsters for almost 40 years. Bert married his high school sweetheart Sherry (Egloff) Chynoweth in 1957 and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. Bert and Sherry were blessed with 3 children, Kevin James Chynoweth, Michael Allen Chynoweth, and Susan Marie (Chynoweth) Bevilacqua. Bert was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. Bert was incredibly proud of his family including his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he was frequently seen with tears of joy and laughter when spending time with his beloved family. Bert was also a passionate RV'er for many years and visited campgrounds all over the United States with his wife Sherry, spreading stories and much love and joy with all he met. Bert also loved model trains and built an incredible train display that he was proud to show to all who came to visit. Patriotism was Bert's passion as he loved his country and tears would stream down his face during Independence Day, patriotic events, and anytime "God Bless the USA" was played. Bert also loved the marvel of engineering, the Mackinac Bridge and could recite almost any facts about the bridge after spending many years walking over the bridge during Labor Day. Above all of Bert's joys and passions, he was a strong and faithful Christian who walked closely with his Lord and Savior. Even as Bert's health faltered in recent years, he never missed the weekly church service and an opportunity to sing and praise his Lord.
Bert is survived by his loving wife Sherry, his sister Carol (Chynoweth) Pilkiewicz, his brother Doug Chynoweth, his children Kevin and Lisa Chynoweth, Mike and Julie Chynoweth, and Susan and Patrick Bevilacqua, Grandchildren Hannah Chynoweth, Jenna Chynoweth, Mandy Burch and Chris Burch, Meg and Carl Peterson, Michael and Ashley Chynoweth, Matt and Mariellen Chynoweth, Jake Bevilacqua, Nicole and Kyle Reichenbach, Zack Bevilacqua, Luke and Riley Bevilacqua, Alayna Bevilacqua, and Great Grandchildren Brock and Brody Burch, Armand and Adelaide Chynoweth, Matt Chynoweth Jr., and Kinsley Reichenbach.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Bert's name to the American Cancer Society. There will be a memorial service and celebration of life for Bert on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1950 S. Baldwin Road, Lake Orion, MI 48360.
