Wes's obituary

Wes Becker, a lifelong resident of Tucson, Arizona, was carried in the arms of Jesus to his eternal home on September 21, 2021. Wes was proprietor of Vantage Bowling Centers and involved in the industry for over 40 years and spent many years serving his church.

Wes was born February 7, 1949, at St. Mary’s Hospital into what some like to refer to as a

“bowling dynasty;” his father opened and operated the first Cactus Bowl which grew into additional centers that Wes eventually took over operations of with his business partner Jill Theis in 1997.

Wes met his wife Candy at The University of Arizona in 1972, and they were married on March 2, 1974. Over the course of their marriage, they invested in the raising of their four wonderful daughters and welcomed son in-laws and four grandchildren. In his twenties, Wes worked for ten years in his family’s farming business before coming onboard with the recreation business that over the years grew to include the operations of five bowling centers, a roller skating rink, drive-in theaters, a fitness center, a mine, and a sports park.

In 2016, Wes was honored by the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America as the 2016 Hall of Fame Inductee and recipient of the Victor Lerner Memorial Medal. The medal recognizes a lifetime of service to the bowling industry and represents the recipient’s induction into the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas.

In addition to his love for his family and His Savior, he was a lover of beautiful views, great food, and teasing others to make them laugh. He enjoyed serving in the church and was instrumental in planting a church to which he gave several faithful years as a deacon.

Wes is survived by his wife of 47 years, Candy; his four daughters: Mary Severns (Dustyn), Kristy Duffy (Scott), Michelle Becker, and Samantha Becker; his 4 grandchildren: Dylan, Riley, Cliff, and Henry; and his sister Darlene Finn.

His family is thankful for the years we were given with him as a husband, father, and grandfather. We will continue his legacy of devotion to faith, family, hard work, and a high standard of ethics in loving memory.
