Welford's obituary

Welford A Stewart, was one of seventeen children, born July 20, 1939 in King and Queen County, Virginia to the late Llewellyn Stewart and Mary Temple Jones. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 surrounded by love.
Welford was educated in the King and Queen County public school system.
Welford was a hard worker. Welford owned a Lumber company in Virginia for twenty years before settling into New Jersey. Welford worked for Corrado Brothers as a truck driver for thirty plus years until he retired. Welford owned and operated a water ice truck with his brother Jim that he drove and loved for many years.

Welford married the late Margaret Stewart in 1966 before relocating from Virginia to Penns Grove, New Jersey. Stewart truly loved and cherished his family and would do anything for them.

Welford was truly a caring man. He always offered his infectious smile and kind words to everyone in his path. Welford had many hobbies such as driving his water ice truck, driving his many friends place to place, spending time with his fiancé Debbie, and just riding around town enjoying his life to the fullest. He was known for saying, ‘you can’t keep a good man down,’ even on the darkest of days. Welford’s most memorable days were spent with his loved ones, or out In his truck, he never liked being idle for too long. You never saw Welford without his signature toothpick, peppermint, and smile anywhere he went.

Welford was preceded in death by his parents, Llewellyn Stewart and Mary Temple Jones, his daughter Lisa Hence, his lovely wife Margaret Stewart, and his 16 siblings.

Welford leaves to cherish his memory, his dutiful fiancé Debbie Gear of NJ; his loving daughters Glise Amelia (Joseph) Johnson of MD; Elizabeth A. (Charles) Mosley of DE; Esther Mitchell of PA; Mildred D. Rich of AK; Prince (Mae) Rich Jr of NJ; William Rich of MD; his Brother-in-law Charles A. Reynolds of NJ; his Sister-in-law Queenie Presley of NJ;a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extended family and friends that will miss him dearly.
