Wayne's obituary

Wayne Shawver, 81, peacefully passed away at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville, California, on November 26, 2018, following a stroke in his home on November 24, 2018.

Wayne was a fun-loving cowboy who was always at home on a dance floor, had a love of camping, fishing, horses, and the Miami Dolphins. He was born on March 9, 1937, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Wayne was the second of four children born to Eula Nelson and Paul Shawver, who preceded him in death. He spent his youth and attended school in Watsonville, CA. Wayne worked as a tractor operator, for various landscape/paving companies in the Bay Area and was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local #3 Union. His first marriage gave him five children of which he loved very much. On May 22, 1982, Wayne married the love of his life, Joanne, who preceded him in death on October 15, 2003. Wayne retired in 1999 and once their dream home was built, he and Joanne moved to Coarsegold, CA. Wayne remained in Coarsegold, CA. until September 2016 when he moved to Folsom, CA. to be closer to his daughters.

Wayne is survived by his sisters Marian Stevenson and Gwen Souza of Watsonville, CA., his younger brother Bruce Shawver of Clarksville, TN, his children Paul and Mitchell Shawver of Watsonville, CA., Tammy Espinoza of Rancho Cordova, CA., Deanna Rutkowski of Citrus Heights, CA., Debra Pearce of Folsom, CA., and Robert Shawver of Sheridan, AR., and many grand-children and great grand-children. He also leaves behind his large extended family of nieces and nephews; in-laws; his cat, Hunter, and several friends throughout California.

A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held on January 19, 2019, at the Orangevale Grange, 5807 Walnut Avenue, Orangevale, CA. 95662, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Folsom Moose Lodge, 203 Scott Street, Folsom, CA. 95630.
