Wayne's obituary
Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Wayne (Seth) Coxen. Wayne, a resident of Washington, DC, was born on December 10, 1952. Wayne moved from Maryland to Chester, PA at a very young age and attended Show Walter Middle School and graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1970. After graduation, he went to Washington, DC and obtained a job with the federal government where he stayed for 30 plus years until his retirement. Wayne enjoyed baseball, loved fishing and was very active in different sports and loved playing cards!
He is survived by his mother, Velma (seth) Fountain of Ridgely, MD, bonus mother, Martha E Coxen, of Chester, PA; he also leaves to mourn 1 sister, Deborah Bowers (Carlton) of North Carolina; 5 brothers: Stephen S. Fountain III of Dover, DE; Daryl Seth (Sandra Mosley) of Easton, MD; Rev. Daniel T. Gordy of Chester, PA, Henry R. "Maine" Fountain (Vastina Fountain) of Harrington, DE and Bishop Harry O Coxen Jr. of Lincoln, DE. Wayne also shared his life with his partner of over 39 years with Montez Smith whom they raised her son Charles Young (Vonetta Shaw-Young) of Brooklyn, MD and also help raised 13 grandkids including DeAndre Samuels, Diamond Young and Diamonte Young and Michaela Phillips; they also shared 21 great grandkids with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Wayne was predeceased by father, Rev. Harry O Coxen Sr., bonus father, Stephen S. Fountain II. Sr., sisters: Leatrice Fountain, Lilliam Coxen Hastings, and Denise Fields; brother, Valerius Fountain, brother-in law, Gilbert Fields and nephew, Larry "Sparkle" Fountain. Though Wayne was a private person, he was an important part of his community and his loss is deeply felt.
