Peter and Leigh Kuhn
1970, Head of the Meadow Rd, Newtown, CT

My deepest condolences regarding the loss of  your Dad, Husband, Wayne. I apologize for the tardiness of these condolences. I resenting learned of the loss of Wayne through Wayne’s sister Jodi.

Wayne was a great childhood friend that I regret losing track of after high school. Wayne and I go way back to our days on Head of the Meadow Rd and the hundreds of pickup baseball games played in Roudolf ‘s field. Wayne also joined my parents and I on vacation camping at Sabago Lake ; We commuted back and forth to Fairfield Prep and we’re on the Fairfield Prep track team together.

Prior to COVID, Wayne and I reconnected through another Head of the Meadow friend, Alan Reed. We talked about our families and our lives since  High School.?Unfortunately, we never got to reunited face to face.

Wayne will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace.

I still have Wayne's phone number in my Favorites on my phone.   Somehow I manage to accidentally "b-dial" him about once a quarter.  So far no answer (but I'll keep trying).

I was one of the many lucky people to cross paths with Wayno in his professional life.  He was always cheerful, amiable, generous and genuinely interested in his colleagues' personal lives, while sharing the big events in his life in return.  One of the many places we crossed paths is at the GOMAC conference which starts tomorrow.  I always looked forward to seeing Wayne there, and not only for collaborating on masks and Trusted microelectronics but also for the fellowship and storytelling that he was always so good at.  We will raise a glass to him tonight in honor of his birthday and share some of our own stories of how Wayne touched our lives.  We miss you, Buddy!

I just learned of Wayne’s passing and felt crushed.  He was a very special person and one I felt close to although we lost touch long ago.  I will always remember him laughing, telling stories and pulling pranks.  Playing golf with him and Sue, my bag would always fall off the cart when I drove away.  It happened about three times before I saw he and Sue laughing.  I figured it out that Wayne had struck!

There are so many stories and so many great memories.  I am a true believer that our souls ascend to a higher place.  I am sure that Wayne is entertaining all who preceded him in passing.

Sue and family, please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss even though it’s a year late.   I can tell by all the tributes that my judgement of his character was spot on.  He will forever be missed.  RIP Wayno.

Wayne, the man so admired in these many tributes, became the person you all knew from the love and influence of his parents, Tony and Bunny, and grandmother Agnes Ray. To Bun, carrying the flag for them, I send abundant love.

Wayne, I (we all!) have known as friendly, cheerful, animating and energetic! Always ready, determined, and relentless if it comes to any competition. Losing is not an option! We were both proud dads, endlessly talking and bragging about our two mutual prides and hobbies: (1) Our two lovely, smart and strong daughters and (2) Kickboxing. Wayne promised me his kickboxing face mask so I could be sparring safely again. Now I am the proud owner, and it will have a sacred place for you Wayno "The Maskman/Road Warrior". Thank you Wayne! I will be safe.
My deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues.
I always thought that Wayne was one of the good guys. As I recall, he may have gave me my first drink long ago at a family wedding.
Shared a heart Red heart

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Wayne but I do know his very special daughter, Ashley. She works in my office at Appalachian State. My deepest sympathies to the family and friends.

Just learned today of Wayne’s passing. Words fail and my sincere thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the many who were close to him. I’ve great memories of times spent with Wayne whilst at Photronics and had hoped to work with him again in a new role I took on this year. He will be missed...
Wayne and I went to Dresden Germany in the late 90’s to visit a facility which recently became part of our company. One evening we went out to find a local restaurant and followed a sign leading down to a small place. As we followed the path to the entrance, we noticed a goat tied up, a rabbit in a cage and chickens walking around. Inside, we found the people inside very friendly, but they only spoke german. The menu was also in German. Since we were in this situation, the only thing to do was point to an item and hope for the best. The food was good even though we had no idea what we were eating!! At the end of our dinner, two chickens
jumped on our table to finish what was left on our plates.
Needless to say, this was the most unusual and bizarre dinner we ever experienced.
As we left, we noticed that the rabbit was no longer in the cage.....
To my dear DeCarlo family- I loved seeing all these photos of Wayne- being the older ‘cuz’ I have amazing memories of Wayne and my brother Anthony skiing, hanging out and generally just having fun. He was always part of our lives. My phone would ring and I’d hear him say ‘hey Cuz’ and I’d know that my day just got better. My heart breaks at his loss. I am helpless to ease your grief, but gladdened to see just how much joy he brought to so many. I can only say-“ hey Cuz, love and miss you. Give Uncle Tony a kiss from me. “

Shocked and saddened by Wayne’s untimely passing. He
was a terrific, always upbeat employee of Photronics and
a good friend. I’m sure he will be missed by all who knew
him and I send my condolences to Sue and family.

This took my a while to put the words together... Wayne was not only one of my favorite people in the world, but is such a fantastic role model of how to be a father. Seeing he went to so many of Ashley’s games, competitions and big things in her life was amazing. He loved his grandchildren so much and showed just how proud he was of his family.

One of my goals was to be in the same airport as him and be able to meet up with him. I never got to do that, but it’ll take a while to get used to not looking for his face in a crowd.

There’s too many stories to pick just one, but the one I will share is that I was new to traveling and was stranded in an airport unexpected. I didn’t know what to do so I contacted Wayno and he helped me so much and went out of his way. It was so kind and I’ll never forget it.

He will be missed and he will always carry the title of the Best Cheer Dad ever.

My cousin Wayne was a force of nature. He had so much charisma and such a big heart!

I remember when Jodi and I were kids and I would spend a week with them every summer. Wayne would look for ways to “annoy” us- and we loved any attention we got from him. I recall that more than once he would figure out what room we were in, go outside, and start rapping on the window. It scared the bejesus out of us and sent us screaming! We absolutely loved it!

He was generous and kind then and remained so his whole life. Whenever I posted a picture of my folks, Wayno would comment how good his “Cuz” looked or something otherwise nice and kind,

I only ever saw him smiling.
The world has lost a very bright light and a sensitive and generous soul.
Being almost five years younger than Wayne I was always entering whatever school Wayne had just left. I was always introduced or known as “Jodi, Wayne DeCarlo’s sister”. I wore this title with pride. It was clear Wayne had left his mark in a positive way and I knew I would be ok.
Fast forward to adulthood and I was looking for new employment. Wayne mentioned to a co worker that his sister was looking for a job and might be a fit for a position that had opened up in the accounting department. I interviewed and got the job. I was walked around on my first day and was introduced to everyone as “Jodi, Wayne’s sister.” This made me immediately smile. I could see how well liked Wayne was and instantly felt comfortable in my new environment.
At this new job is where Matt and I met. We later married and then had our Emily Rose. So yes, I have a lot to be thankful to my brother for!
I’ll miss Waynes big smile and great laugh which were always present! His love for and pride in the beautiful family he and Sue built was usually what put that bright smile on his face. He beamed whenever he would take out his phone to show the most recent pics of his kids and Grandkids! His family meant everything to him and they will forever have their guardian Angel looking over them.
I will always love and miss you Wayno!
Thanks for always leading the way for me❤️
Forever grateful, “Jodi, Waynes Sister “

Mary and I were so saddened to hear about Wayne's passing last week when Steve called us. Although we hadn't seen Wayne in many years his energy, smile and warm-hearted nature will always be remembered. Chris and Emily were, likewise, saddened to hear about Wayne's sudden passing, both of them recalling how much fun he was to be around whenever the opportunity for a family get-together arose. He will always be remembered for the great guy he was...the smile in every picture says it all!

You, your children and grandchildren and Wayne's entire family are in our thoughts and prayers, Sue.

Love,
Doug and Mary

Wayne,
Friend, co-worker, competitor, supplier, always moving at the speed of light, shining so very bright, I still can't believe he is gone. Every time we'd see each other there were new pictures of his girls and the grandsons. He was so proud of his family. Whenever we met for lunch or dinner, at the latest Italian restaurant in the area, of course, we had so much fun catching up. Wayne always did something extra that let you know he was truly thinking of you. He sent me 'care packages' when I was living in Singapore, so many years ago. His sales team was often embarrassed because Wayne asked them to bring Diet Coke to the office for me. That was Wayne!

Just like the dismal rain for the past several weeks, life without Wayno will be dismal. I didn't get to see him much, but when I did, it was always a great time. I'll certainly miss him.

Wayne was a very sweet soul. He never entered or left a room without bringing in a smile and a tale to everyone around him. He always had a dance in his step and a compliment for you every single day. He touched everyone, because he went out of his way to be kind to all and that you don't forget or come across often. His personality was a key to his worldly successes as he was a gentleman and advocate to treat others as you would want to be treated. He lived it and shared it. I hope we can all carry a bit of his love forward and remember how special it made us feel. A deep loss to all of us and to his family. May his spiritual journey be wondrous.

During my freshman year of college my cousin Wayne reached out to me while he was in Phoenix on business. “Hey Cuz, you free for dinner?” I’ll never forget how much that kind gesture meant to me. Many years later, whenever I was in CA on business, I always took my niece (who was attending USC) out to dinner. I always felt like I was paying forward the kindness Wayne showed to me back in ‘85 and carrying on a family tradition, of sorts. A few years later when my career in the car business started, Wayne sent me a box of tapes and books on selling to help get me started. Yet another unnecessary but generous offer from my awesome cousin, Wayne.
