Answered by a team member at Pamlico Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
-
What is your mission?
PAWS is dedicated to "Helping the Helpless" by providing affordable spay/neuter services as the primary way of decreasing pet overpopulation and controlling the number of unwanted, neglected and abandoned pets in Pamlico County and surrounding areas.
-
How are donations used?
In addition to spay and neuter assistance, we also provide financial assistance for emergency veterinary services, and pet food. We assist the local shelter in finding homes for their animals
-
What can be done with a $100 donation?
A one hundred dollar donation will pay to spay/neuter four feral cats (or two dogs), or help with a veterinary emergency.
-
What progress has been made already thanks to your donors?
PAWS has been evolving since 2007, and pre-pandemic we had a very successful New Leash on Life dog training program at the local Correctional Institute, pairing inmates and shelter dogs for an 8-week course in obedience and agility.
-
What is the history of your organization?
PAWS has always offered spay and neuter assistance, but now we also assist the Animal Control Officer at Rabies Clinics, Microchip Clinics, and we have no-pay cat spay/neuter clinics for mostly feral cats.
