Wayne Edward Carter, Sr. died January 4, 2023 at the age of 74. Carter was a lifelong New Orleans resident, a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and holds a degree from Delgado Community College in drafting for civil engineering. While in high school he had a part time job as a waiter at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel, and despite completing his degree he chose to stay there, for nearly 50 years. By the time he retired in 2010, he was a manager of the hotel's banquet division. Carter is the son of the late Leonard Edward Carter Sr. and Ora Lee Rabb. He is survived by his son, Wayne Carter (Michelle), siblings Karen Carter, Kim Rabb Crump (Brainard), and Andrew Carter, his grandchildren Priscilla and Cailyn Carter, his nieces, nephews, and his step grandchildren who he loved. The Carter family welcomes friends and coworkers to Rhodes Funeral Home on Washington Ave. January 11, 2023. Visitation begins at 9:30am with remarks and prayer at 10:30. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Uptown New Orleans.
