Wayne's obituary
Wayne Amos Bremer, 88, passed away on March 22, 2024 in Kenosha, WI.
Son of Alfred and Viola (Stratmeyer) Bremer, Wayne was born in Metropolis, IL on September 20, 1935 and was the oldest of 3 children. Wayne was raised in Massac County on a farm with his two sisters, Florence Gower and Carolyn Conley, where he grew up working on the family farm and later graduated from Metropolis Community High School in 1954.
Wayne served in the US Army for two years and was a private first class in transportation. After he served his country he worked as a mechanic and then became a union carpenter for over 33 years. He loved to share about the time he built Michael Jordan’s home and many other great work experiences through the years.
While he was in the army, Wayne met his future wife, Dianna (Sommer) Bremer in 1958 and they married 4 years later. Wayne and Dianna married on May 5th, 1962 and lived happily together in their home in Wheeling, IL where they raised their family until Wayne was moved to an assisted living facility in Kenosha, WI in the summer of 2023.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dianna, his children Kenneth E. Bremer, Katherine Kowalkowski, Kevin Bremer (Tammy), his sisters, Florence Gower and Carolyn Conley, his grandchildren; Kenneth J., Amber (Michael), Kevin (Sarah), Danielle, Dylan, Dana and Emma, and his great-grandchildren; Patrick, Liam, Ashlyn, Cali, Carter and Cameron as well as many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
His greatest joys were his family whom he loved spending time with, his dogs, his family farm, tractors, ice cream, working on anything and everything to help someone, and sharing all of his great stories with anyone kind enough to spend time listening to them.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His passion and integrity for those he loved was unwavering. No matter what the situation, if you needed anything, Wayne would be there with a helping hand, no questions asked. His infectious smile, laugh and ability to wiggle his ears will live on forever for all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life for Wayne will be held on Thursday, April 4th from 6:00-9:00pm at Jexal’s Pizza in McHenry, IL.
