Waylon's obituary

Waylon Joseph Imhof, 41, of Peoria, Illinois, died unexpectedly on the 22nd of May, 2021, in Chicago, Ilinois. He was born October 2, 1979, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Richard Imhof and Christine (Swain) Tibbitts.

Waylon attended Missouri Military Academy and David H. Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri and Lakeland Community College in Illinois. In July 2008, he married his soulmate, Melissa Roberts, and would have celebrated their 13th anniversary next month. In February 2009, they welcomed into the world, his pride and joy, Adalyn Imhof. He had a special bond with people closest to him. He loved and cherished his girls, his mom and his Aunt Deana. He spoke to them and about them often.

Waylon was a uniquely gifted individual, blessed with great qualities that many experienced during his short life. He was charming with a magnetic personality and kind heart. His smile and easy conversation would light up a room; he never met a stranger. He cared deeply for loved ones and considered friends his own family. He was helpful and energetic, often going out of his way to assist others. He had humor and humility and enjoyed making people laugh. He worked and played hard.

Waylon was an artist who loved to create, using any medium available, including tattooing. He enjoyed and excelled at drawing, having planned to use his craft to help and guide inner-city youth to use their gifts positively, to better themselves. He applied his high intelligence to excel at academics and work. Devoutly spiritual, with a fondness for nature, Waylon enjoyed all outdoor activities and sports.

Waylon is preceded in death by his father, Richard Imhof. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Melissa Imhof; daughter, Adalyn Imhof; mother, Christine Tibbitts and stepfather, Kenneth Seabaugh; brother, Jacob Tibbitts; sister, Wendy Vance; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration and memorial of Waylon’s life on this earth is to be held at 2 o’clock p.m., June 12th, 2021, at Richwoods Christian Church, 8115 Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61615.
