Grandpa and his son Ryan at Grandma's Birthday Party. That was the day you took me outside and played me the song you wanted for our father/daughter dance. You were so proud of it and you could tell how much thought you had put into it.

Grandpa's Surprise 68th Birthday Party! When he pulled up and saw everyone he said, "What in the hell!" 🤣 He had an amazing turn out and a great day of fun!

I took this picture the morning he passed. I just kept holding his hand or stroking his hair and telling him how much I loved him and that he had fought so hard for so long it was now time to go. It was hard to understand him in the last week but he kept putting up his finger telling me to hold on and trying to muster the strength to tell me something. He finally got out, "I love you." He kept trying to say more but he was just too weak and then he said"I'm sorry." I'm not sure why he said that maybe it was because he couldn't say what he wanted or maybe it was because I was aiding in care he probably would of preferred me not to do. Either way I find peace in knowing I held his hand on his long fight and was there to escort him into his next one too.

Daddy's Purties.... Funny sto…
1985, East Enterprise, IN, USA
Daddy's Purties.... Funny story when I was born they told all the family to go home for the night and get some rest because I wasn't coming yet. Well I did come so I was already in this world by the time they drove back to the hospital. When my grandfather arrived they had me with the other babies in the nursery behind the glass. So my grandmother asked my grandfather which one he wanted, he pointed and said that one! She said too bad because we get that one! 🤣 He didn't pick me but you'd never guess it because I was always his Purties. Every night after work he'd come home, sit in his recliner and point to his cheek and say, "Come here Purties!" And I'd run over to his lap and give him a kiss and a hug. Anytime I was in trouble I'd run to him and he'd ask, "Who are we mad at?" Usually it would be Mom or Grandma and he'd pretend to scold them for mistreating me and I'd giggle. He was always my protector.

2018, Rising Sun, IN, USA
I came down after we learned of your cancer diagnosis and we sat on the porch all day and evening and I asked to take some pictures of him and Grandma. He's never been a big fan of being in front of my camera but with enough pushing I could get him to. You can really see the love in their eyes in this one and it instantly became my favorite.

Grandpa and I on my wedding day. We always kept one another laughing but you were a man of deep waters and philosophical words at times. One that sticks out is I was maybe 12 and you told me once while driving down the road, "Megan you always dance with the man that brought you." My mind is filled with words of your wisdoms that will forever be my inner voice.

This was taken after a day of me trying on wedding dresses. As usual he'd crack his jokes but I always took his advice on dresses because he'd never lie to you. If it was ugly he'd tell ya! 🤣

One of many of great memories at camp. His brothers and sisters were always his world. Family was everything to Grandpa.
