Ward's obituary
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Ward A. Leiter, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who departed from this world on March 14th,2024. Ward was a pillar of strength, love, and wisdom to all who were fortunate enough to know him. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends that can never be filled.
Ward was born on June 6th, 1951 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of Wayne and Bernadine Leiter. He grew up with a spirited curiosity and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. His kindness and compassion were evident from a young age, traits that would define his character throughout his life. He grew up with two brothers, Mark and George Leiter, and one brother preceded in death, Gary Leiter.
After completing his education, Ward embarked on a fulfilling career in the United States Airforce, where he distinguished himself through hard work, integrity, and a commitment to excellence for 23 and half years as a Master Sergeant and Aircraft Traffic Controller. He approached every challenge with determination and grace, earning the respect and admiration of all who worked with him.
Ward's greatest joy, however, came from his role as a devoted family man. He met the love of his life, Suzanne, and together they shared a journey filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories that started on April 3rd, 1990 when they exchanged their unwavering vows to eachother. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of true partnership, and their love served as a guiding light for their son, Dylan, and grandchildren.
As a father, Ward was a constant source of encouragement and wisdom. He instilled in his son the values of honesty, integrity, and compassion, and he took immense pride in watching him grow into a kind, capable, hardworking man. His love knew no bounds, and his legacy lives on through the indelible mark he left on the lives of his family.
In his role as a grandfather, Ward found immeasurable joy and fulfillment. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, showering them with affection and imparting upon them the same timeless wisdom that had guided him throughout his life. His love knew no bounds, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were touched by his warmth and kindness.
Ward's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his steadfast integrity, and his boundless love for his family. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire us all to live with purpose, compassion, and love.
Ward is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; his devoted son Ward Dylan Leiter and his significant other, Cheyenne, and stepchildren Jessica (Donald) Molloy and Matthew (Heather) Harris; his cherished grandchildren, Christian, Riley, Hannah, Jayce, Ayden, Ethyn, and Rori and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
