Wanda's obituary
Wanda Faye (Davidson) Cook, born May 27, 1947, passed away on December 15, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Faye Davidson; her brothers, Louis Gayle Davidson and Clarence Eugene Davidson; her sister, Christine Kay Davidson; her husband, Charles Douglas Cook; her niece, Heather Marie; and her sister-in-law, Beverly Davidson.
Wanda’s life was marked by both hardship and resilience. Many times it seemed she had been overcome, yet she found a way to rise again. Those who knew her understood that her journey was a difficult one, shaped by challenges she faced throughout her life. Her children carry forward the resilience she possessed — an understanding that life is not always fair or easy, but that hardship is not permanent — and that sometimes the best you can do is simply to keep on keeping on. She also had a self-deprecating sense of humor and a way of owning her contradictions with a shrug and a smile, often summed up by her familiar refrain, “But I want it.” After a long and complicated journey, it is our hope that she has finally found peace.
She is survived by her two children, Charles Douglas Cook Jr. and his wife Valerie, and Kimberly Faye (Cook) Browne and her husband Hayes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Taylor and Chas Cook, and Cameron Browne and his wife Lauren, Koby Browne, and Connor Browne; as well as her sister-in-law, Sandy Davidson, and her nephew, Benjamin Davidson, his wife Lora and their children, Claire, Ruth, Hazel, Luke, Adam, Ivy and Elden.
A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held at a later date in a relaxed, informal setting. Those who wish to remember her might do so by allowing themselves a small indulgence — buy it, do it, or enjoy it, simply because you want to.
