Walter's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear loved one, Walter Peter Mack, III who left us on January 11, 2025. Born on November 20, 1967, and lived in Harvey, Louisiana. Walter was the cherished son of the late Superintendent Walter P. Mack, Jr., and Mother Charlotte Ann Mack.
He was raised in St. Peter Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of his parents where he was faithful and active in the church from his youth.
Walter attended West Jefferson Senior High School where he graduated with pride as part of the Class of 1985. Walter dedicated himself to serving his country for 9 years both in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. He served under the leadership of the late General Colin Luther Powell. His commitment to his nation and community was unwavering, and he carried the values of discipline, honor, and service throughout his life.
On August 13, 2016, Walter married his loving wife, LaTaisha Skinner Mack overseen by the officiant Superintendent Phillip D. Hamilton, Sr. Together they proudly shared in raising four children, Jeremy D Mack, Walter P. Mack, IV, Aniiya Smith, and Vincent J. Smith, Jr. They also had one dog, named Adonis whom Walter would lovingly refer to as his son as well. Walter had a successful career for over 20 years with Bloomin’ Brands where he spent time as Joint Venture Partner for Outback Steakhouse and then with Bonefish Grill.
While Walter had many interests and hobbies that filled his life, FAMILY was always first, but he was also an avid lover of luxury cars, collector of rare knives, a sports fan, and music enthusiast. Walter has been awarded as Proprietor of the Year in 2013. He was also recognized by the Florida Restaurant Association as Veteran of the month in May of 2016 and he is a two-time City of Oveido Award of Merit recipient. Furthermore, he was a finalist for the African American Chamber of Commerce Eagle Awards in January 2017. Additionally, he was also awarded the Community Leadership and Inclusion Award for Outback Steakhouse in 2017.
Throughout his journey with Outback Steakhouse, Walter consistently continued active involvement with community initiatives in Central Florida. Although Walter has been involved in many areas, those most dear to him has been his involvement with the Annual Ride for Children with Boggy Creek, the Annual City of Oveido Veteran’s Tribute and any other cause to support Veterans.
Walter is well thought of by his peers and colleagues, offering advice to developing leaders in the hospitality field, providing coaching to aspiring leaders in the Central Florida Community and motivating Central Florida youth.
