My heart goes out to everyone that knew and loved Walter. His personality and heart were larger than life, and he made working at Outback fun. He was a leader, someone you could lean on and laugh with. Walter, you will be forever missed - it's time to rest, we've got it from here.

This is one of the last pics of you after laying our father to rest just a few months ago. I'm so broken! My heart is full and sometimes I feel like I can't breathe. It does not seem real that I will never hear your voice anymore. Love you always!

My big brother, Peter, we were always together and leaning on each other. I miss you so much and the jokes we used to say about each other. My heart is broken! RIH
RIP Walter, you will be missed by so many. It was my pleasure to know you.

My deepest condolences to Walter’s family, his many friends and his peers! We lost a good one! My prayers are with you all! God bless!

I first met this wonderful gentleman while waiting in line at the MP Conference in Orlando. I was honored to meet his lovely wife as well. After talking to Walter and feeling like he was my lifelong friend. I told him that I was a former Marine and he gave me a high-five and said Semper Fi, of course letting me know we shared a special bond of Brother’s in Arms. He then inspired me to be a better leader and to always take care of my people. Walter, you will be missed my friend! Rest in Peace Marine, Semper Fidelis!

Sincerely,

Augie Cubillos

Walter you are now Shining in the Glory of God! Your Love for others is now shared with all the angels in Heaven! The smoke and laugh is lighting and echoing amongst the streets of gold. Your daily presence will be missed but your seed and legacy of being a servant leader to all you encountered will continue to carry on through you impacted in your family and your career. As they say in the service my dear friend Til Valhalla Mr. Mack!

I’ve been searching for the right words since learning of Walter’s passing. Walter was so much more than a collaborator, thought-partner, or mentor—he was a true friend.

I still vividly remember the first time we spoke during one of our Aussie Courage calls, where we were discussing Veterans in Hospitality. Walter lit up the room, hosting an incredibly engaging conversation with his fellow Veterans. Afterward, he immediately asked how he could get more involved with the team, showing his characteristic enthusiasm and commitment.

Walter had a rare gift for connecting with others. His gentle demeanor created a safe space where we felt comfortable bringing our full, authentic selves to work. I will always treasure the conversations we shared about LGBTQ rights—his openness, curiosity, and validation meant so much. I’ll also never forget the many personal stories he shared, always with sincerity and warmth.

One of my favorite memories of Walter was his wholehearted participation in BBI's first St. Pete Pride. He brought his entire family, jumping in to ensure the event's success with the same dedication he brought to everything he did.

I’m deeply honored to have worked alongside Walter through Aussie Courage and our ERG leadership. His kindness, open mind, and open heart have left a lasting imprint on me. I will carry his legacy with me always and will strive to lead with the same compassion and authenticity that defined Walter.

To LaTaisha, Jeremy, Walter IV, Aniiya, and Vincent and all of Walter's family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

Delivery Rollout — with Walter Mack and Tony Read

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend, Walter Mack. He truly was a gentle giant, with a heart as big as his stature. Walter had an incredible ability to light up a room; his positive presence brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. His kindness and uplifting spirit will be profoundly missed.

While I was traveling the country rolling out delivery, I had the pleasure of working in Walter's area. One thing that stood out was that his people absolutely adored him, and it was palpable. You could just tell when someone has that special way with people, and Walter had it.

As Helen Keller beautifully said, "What we enjoyed and deeply love, we can never lose. For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Walter will forever be a part of my heart and memories. I will cherish the moments we shared and carry his spirit with me always. Rest in peace, my friend. You will be missed dearly.

I was lucky enough to work for Walter during my time with Outback. I had opportunities that I’ll remember for the rest of my life because of him. Walter hand picked me to become management, participate in opening and relocations which was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Even during our times of disagreement, he gave me the courage to stand by my decisions which has followed me way past my Outback career. Walter gave me the confidence to confront and challenge what I did not agree with, no matter how big or small. I wouldn’t be the woman or deputy sheriff I am today without his guidance.
