Wallace's obituary

Wallace Kohlman, born on May 5, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was the beloved son of Wallace William Kohlman and Virginia Gabrielle Schlickenmeyer and the oldest of eight siblings. Wallace's family included his late brothers Danny, Larry, and Raymond Kohlman, as well as his surviving brother Tom Kohlman and sisters Maria Kohlman, Cecylia Barbich, and Nancy Kohlman.

A proud graduate of Holy Redeemer High School in Flint, MI, Wallace dedicated much of his life to his work as an iron worker, proudly serving both Local 25 and Local 426. After years of hard work, he retired to Daytona Beach, where he enjoyed the sunshine and relaxed pace of life.

Wallace was a devoted father, survived by his daughters Kathryne Kohlman and Angela Jackson. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Robert, Amanda, Hannah, Haley, Rachel, Jacob, and Adrian. He also delighted in being a great-grandfather to Winona, Scout, Daphne, Stanley, Nora, Astrid, Lane, and Etta. Wallace loved bringing chocolate-covered donuts in his saddle bags to share with his grandchildren, creating sweet memories they will always treasure.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Wallace was always ready with a joke, leaving those close to him with countless fond memories—especially the memorable tale about his left arm tattoo. He enjoyed many years riding his motorcycle, making cherished trips to Sturgis and celebrating the Kentucky Derby each year with his brothers and beloved Schlickenmeyer cousins: Gary, Tom, Glen, and Mark.

Wallace will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he shared with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and joy that will inspire generations to come. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
