Von's obituary

Von Raymond Jefferson, known to many as “Rocky V,” was called home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2025, at the young age of 55. Though born in New York, his heart and rhythm were pure New Orleans, where he grew up and graduated from Alfred Lawless Senior High School in 1988. He attended Southern University at New Orleans and the Walker Institute of Business and Technology, earning certification in small engine repair. But let’s be honest—if you knew Von, you knew his true passion was entertainment.

As a professional DJ, Von lit up countless dance floors with High Fidelity, spinning records and dropping beats that kept crowds moving all night. Under his DJ name “Rocky V,” he was the ultimate hype-man, the life of the party. Later, he brought that same spark to the big and small screen, appearing as a background actor in hit shows and films including Greenleaf, P-Valley, Legacies, Paternity Court, and Till (The Emmett Till Story)—and that’s just the highlight reel. Von never needed the spotlight to shine; his presence lit up any space he was in.

Von was also an entrepreneur at heart. As owner and founder of 55percent LLC, a cleaning service in the metro Atlanta area, he built a business with the same dedication and humor he carried everywhere. He believed in hard work, but he also believed in finding joy while doing it.

What Von will be remembered for most, though, is his unmatched humor and antics. He could turn an ordinary afternoon into a comedy show, often without even trying. No family event will ever be the same without his jokes, his stories, and wild shenanigans.

To say Von will be missed doesn’t quite capture it—he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit endures and his memory will continue to remind us all not to take life too seriously.
