Vova became a part of our family quickly and forever. Every time he visited Chicago, it was a celebration for entire family. He was strong, intelligent, kind, a fascinating conversationalist—someone wonderful, like a soulmate, who loved people and life deeply, always giving himself entirely to others. It’s impossible to list all the good deeds he accomplished in his lifetime; there simply isn’t enough time. His absence will leave a great void in our hearts.

We love him dearly and mourn his loss deeply.

I met Vlad almost 40 yrs ago in chicago and tennis became our mutual joy, with much joking and humor. Vlad had great love and caring for people and to help and contribute to them. He rarely saw a young tennis player without offering help and assistance.  Family and friends were  all important to Vlad and everyone was recruited for saunas and baths.

I savor our many phone conversations and meals in Chicago . He was larger than life with his love and I never met a greater man. I will miss him greatly. I am infinitely grateful and blessed for being his friend.

Olga and Irina- my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your father. Extending my deepest sympathies to the family. No words can ever express how devastated I am with Vladimir’s passing. Chance is unreliable, but generous- we became friends in 1962. Your father was one-of-a-kind, extraordinary, amazing person who touched so many lives, his kindness will always be remembered, and his memory will live on in all the lives he touched. My family owes to Vova our new life in this country. He left a permanent imprint on the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. My dearest friend Vova- you’ll live forever in our hearts, forever in our memories
I was a friend of Vladimir's when I lived in California. We played a lot of tennis, argued over politics, and talked about many other things. I'm so sorry to hear about Vladimir's passing, and I want to send my best wishes to his daughters and the rest of the family.
It's a tremendous loss! Vladimir Fishman or simply diadia Vova, was not just an uncle and mentor for Dima Shternberg's family but a Mentor with a capital letter to all Dima's family friends, both adults and kids. He was in Chicago often, overseeing life, major and minor events, finding time and and being here at moments notice. He started love of tenis in my kids. He was stern, wise, didn't held back his opinions, yet cared to greatest degree about Dima and his family, he was more like father to Dima, and that care and mentoring produced great admiration and respect from all Dima's friends. Didia Vova was a staple of our close friends company and will be greatly missed. His memories are a blessing to my family and will continue be for years. May his memories be a blessing to all whom he knew.
Shared a heart Red heart

Dyadya Vova was and will always be a special person in my heart. Even though he lived far away I always felt as if he was close to us because he always made an effort to come to all our family events whether it be my wedding , my kids parties or any of our other family events. He was always so kind and always so thankful to be there. He truly loved his whole family and always made an effort to call us , see us and stay in touch. He always was inviting everyone to come visit him in his home. My husband and I stayed there years ago and got to visit Ebay also. You can tell Dyadya Vova was respected anywhere he went.  He was incredibly smart and accomplished so much. It is also thanks to him that our whole family is here!

He was always fun to be around and was able to discuss any topic that was brought to the table. I think one of his biggest accomplishments was family and he did not forget it. I am so glad he was able to meet both my girls. We will always remember him and keep his memory alive. He will truly be missed.
