Vito's obituary
He came to us wild
I never saw a wild dog before.
After a few months he wasn’t behaving and I thought we had made a rescue mistake - he used to eat napkins for food - I used to tell him you don’t need to eat napkins anymore Vito - we can feed you - you’re safe.
He came when Mika was still with us and fell in love with her - after a week she realized he wasn’t leaving and did not like him after that.
Johnny started Vito’s training
And he grew into a loving personality.
With ears like the signs of flag men with certain words like squirrel, treat, wanna eat, wanna go for walk?
He was fun and very loving.
He loved his play dates with his girl Waffles. He didn’t like swimming but would do it for Johnny (by force)
He would tell you when he was Hungry, he would tell you that you were … walking him - like it or not.
He would ask for more rubs and when he was tired he would go off to his bed with only a quick stop and look back as if to say - time for me see you later.
He always had a wild about him - yet he could melt your heart with his warm yellow eyes.
We called him DEBIL.
He ate a chair leg without our knowledge and our friend Helen fell from it - he never did that anymore.
He loved Johnny more.
He never made friends with Jake Nextdoor -we never could figure out why. He liked all dogs if they didn’t have an aggression but if they did -
It was over - he always won - then made the bad guy…because of his breed I guess. He didn’t start it but could finish it.
His breathing labored to a never and we screamed in silence - we look at one another with our eyes that are so mournful it hurts.
Dogs don’t have souls as people do, so I say, yet they certainly know how to pierce themselves right into our souls.
We will miss our little debil - and as long as we breathe his sweet self will not be forgotten.
Say hi to Mika for me.
Ciao Vito
