It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia "Ginger" Near. Ginger, a beloved mother, wife, and devoted friend, was born on October 17, 1962, and departed from this world on November 15, 2023.

Ginger's life was filled with joy and vibrant color, particularly pink, her favourite. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life and an unwavering spirit. A true force of nature, she could often be found sipping her cherished coffee while engrossed in her favourite TV shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her love for cinema shone through in her admiration for Tom Hanks' movies, which she would watch with passion and devotion.

Ginger's heart held boundless love for her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Near, and their four children: Gina Owens, Samantha Burgess, Bryce Mathews, and Caprice Mathews. She instilled in them her zest for life, teaching them to fill their days with joy and love, just as she had done.

An avid traveler, Ginger's favorite vacation spot was the vibrant city of Vegas. She would return from her trips with captivating tales that she would share with enthusiasm, transporting her loved ones to those places with her vivid storytelling.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ginger's life was held on November 18, 2023, at 10:00 PM at Saint Mary's Church. Attendees reminisced about her vivacious personality and the precious memories she left behind.

Ginger's departure leaves a void in many lives, but her spirit continues to inspire all those who were lucky to have known her. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her loved ones.
