Virginia's obituary
After a 3 year courageously strong battle with pancreatic cancer,Virginia "Ginger" Kushman (formerly Dickerson), 78, of Gilbert, AZ, passed away peacefullybon December 01, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Virginia, born on April 13,1944 to Elmer and Irene Rausch of Colwich, Kansas, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Her brother, Donald (age 2 at the time) gave her the nickname "Ginger" as he couldn't pronounce Virginia. Elmer moved his family out west to Medford, Oregon when Ginger was two years old. She went on to graduate from St. Mary's High School in 1962. She juggled being a wife, mother and making life long friends as a hairdresser for nearly 20 years. In 1980 she pursued a degree in education at Southern Oregon State College. Ginger fell in love with education and brightening the minds and lives of children, which kicked off a 20 year career with Central Point School District as an elementary teacher. After retiring in 2003 she decided to brighten passengers lives as a flight attendant with Alaska Airlines for nearly 4 years. In 2008 she married the love of her life, Greg Kushman. Ginger was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring Nana, loyal sister and friend.
Family came first and was above all else to Mom/Nana, a value she instilled in all those around her. Her smile, love and heart will be missed forever and the hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. Ginger was predeceased by her father Elmer and brother Don. She is survived by her mother Irene Rausch, two sisters Dorothy and Ramona , her husband Greg , her 3 children Debbie, Angie and Bryan, step daughters Mary and Haley, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ginger’s name to Pancreatic cancer research. Services will be held on Saturday December 17 at 2pm
