Virginia's obituary

Reverend Virginia Kellogg Barnes, 66, of Riva, MD passed unexpectedly on October 16, 2022 of natural causes  while battling a chronic illness. We are devastated by this loss and completely unprepared.

Born on May 12, 1956, in Greenville, NC, little Jenny immediately filled the lives of those around her with joy. After graduating from high school, Virginia, went on to pursue her first Bachelor's Degree in the hospitality industry from Georgia State University. Responding to her call for service in the Evangelical Church of America (ELCA), Virginia successfully completed her Master's of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC and was ordained Reverend into the ELCA.  After her formal education Virginia  went on to serve as a Lutheran Minister in the The Southeastern Synod. Her first call took her to Ormond Beach, FL and her second to Cookeville, TN. Also known as, Pastor Jenny, she retired from the ELCA in 2020. Virginia was a loving, passionate, and bold woman adored by her family and friends. Virginia was passionate about the service to the community, the environment and human and animal rights. Her presence is sorely missed and her loss is deeply felt. Virginia is predeceased by her mother, Judy, and her beloved twin brother, Carl.  She is survived by her God-daughter Crystal Torres and her cherished dog, Lucy. Lucy is loved and has been adopted as a member of the Ashley Family Pack where she has played and lived happily for the last year. No services will be held, at Virginia's request. Her ashes will Interred, in Ormond Beach by the sea.
