Viola's obituary

Viola Denise Whitaker-Morrow was born on June 15th 1963 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to Melissa E. Whitaker and the late Henderson Whitaker Jr. She was named Viola after her paternal great-grandmother, but was known to most as “Yvette”. She transitioned to be our angel on November 20, 2018 after being diagnosed with a critical illness the week before.

Viola was a proud graduate of Northern Nash Senior High School class of 1981. She went on to complete some college courses at North Carolina Central University. She worked for 15 years in retail management with several different companies.

Viola married Edward Bernard Morrow Sr. on May 18, 1985 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in front of God, her family and loving friends. Edward is a United States Marine and his service within the corps took them from coast to coast in the USA. They raised 4 beautiful children and inherited several more while establishing lifelong relationships throughout their journey.

Viola loved to spend time with family, cooking home cooked meals, chatting with friends and family, “Family Game Night”, loving on her grandchildren, soap operas, and family vacations. She had a love for reading and perfecting English grammar.

Viola’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She loved to decorate her home and tree with beautiful christmas decorations and lots of good cheer. She loved to listen to music of all genres and to sing. Viola loved collecting and taking photos of her family and friends.

Viola was very charitable, donating to almost 25 different charities each year. She was always known to give to anyone in need. She never met a stranger. She was kind and generous to all she encountered. She always offered a listening ear and the most wise advice for any situation.

Viola is preceded in death by her father, Henderson Whitaker Jr.,her sister, Ellen Wilson-Myles, her grandparents, and several paternal/maternal aunts, uncles and cousins.

Viola is survived by her spouse, Edward Bernard Morrow Sr. and his father Edward Curtis Morrow and mother, Dorothy Morrow. Her sons, Antonio Morrow and Edward Bernard Morrow Jr. Her daughters, Dr. Qunna Morrow-Pryor and Alissa Morrow. She also leaves one daughter in-love, Devonnish Morrow and one son in-love Robert Pryor Jr.

Viola is survived by her sister, Mildred Richardson, two brothers in love: Damon Morrow and Chase Rickman and two sisters in love: Angela Milton and Denise Morrow. Her mother Melissa Whitaker. Grandchildren: Morrice Pryor, Jaylan Morrow, Jordan Morrow, Dallas Pryor, and Jasmine Morrow. Nieces: Sheena Hudson-Williams, and Joanna Worrells. Nephew: Terrence Richardson. GodChildren: Aisha Bryant, Craig Wilson II. Best friends: Gloria Bryant, Carlet Wilson, Betty Jones, Jenny Gilmore
