Viola A. (Kite) Lunsford Beck
December 08th, 1930 – November 14th, 2022
Viola Adaline Lunsford Beck, 91, of San Diego, California passed November 14, 2022 in Idaho Falls, Idaho as a result of a stroke on November 12th, 2022. Viola was the second of three children, born December 8th 1930 in Conrad, Montana to Father, James Sydney Gwin of Texas and Mother, Barbera Broers of Holland.
In the 1950s, Viola at the age of 20, being as adventurous and brave as she was, while working as a hostess in Olympia, Washington, left with friends to start a new life in Southern California.
In 1953, Viola married Raymond L Kite and divorced in 1968 where she raised 4 children on her own in San Diego. While raising her 4 children, she worked hard and layed out the foundation for fostering a safe haven and home to those near and dear. While working for the Navy Exchange, Viola suffered a work accident that left her permanently disabled. At the age of 64, On January 10, 1994 she married Charles “Chuck” Beck, the brother of her dear friend, Charlet “Sister”. Through the years, she had many passions, including writing poems, various arts and crafts, drawing, painting and coloring. But Viola’s favorite things were her hummingbirds, decorative eggs and her “Dutch” wall, where displaying them was very important. Viola loved spending time with her friends playing cards, dominos and traveling to see family. She was an avid member and contributor of various Veteran charities. Viola was a keeper of things. She collected cut out drawings, stamps, sayings, toilet paper rolls, and bread bags. She was the queen of recycling before it became a popular way of life. In April of 2022, at the age of 91, Viola, excited and fearless, moved to Idaho to live her last years under the care of her daughter Barbera.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Beck, her brothers Richard & Jan Gwin, and her beloved daughter Vicky L. Goss.
Viola Lunsford Beck is survived by her 3 children Scott Kite, Barbera Czarnecki & John Kite, her 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who taught us unconditional love, subtle sweet strength, and fiery spirit. Who is known for giving raspberry kisses. Every goodbye was “I love you, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.” And every greeting was met with “mean and onery like always” and a silly smooshed face.
Viola will be remembered for her tenacious way of putting a smile on everyone's face to whom she met. She is so deeply loved by her family and friends and is greatly missed.

She will be at Glen Abbey Mortuary in Bonita, California buried next to her mother at lot 6, block 56.
