Vinod Gupta:

I first met Vinod on the 31st May 1985 at Mx Office, HT, Delhi. The meeting was an interview for me to take up some opportunity in MX. The meeting did establish an invisible link of bond you may call. Since then, our association and interactions had been sporadic and mostly professional. Much later in my career, at a point of nadir, the invisible bond clicked. One call was enough, Vinod jumped to lift me up and take me in his wings. He was my mentor and guru for next few years till I had to move on. His approach was straight and simple. Upfront n feedback, appreciative of any good work, he shaped me up in a totally new area of business skill. He was always proud to see his mentee doing well. I vividly recall his proud face seeing me making a sales pitch for a Training Product and he was gaga about it and in public. I am guilty of not being in touch with him of late on account of falling into a self made trap. I missed him for some time and now I will miss him for ever with out a chance to say “Thank You”. However, I have in my possession couple of his things and he will be ever part of my life story. A personal loss to me and I join the family at this hour of grief. I pray the almighty to give the strength to the family to move on. For the simple generous soul, God will ensure Moksha, the ultimate liberation

This is unbelievable. Vinod was so young, so full of energy. How can God be so cruel.
I met Vinod for the first time in 1996 when we came together in Modicorp. We were the founder members of the Modicorp Learning Institute, which did some phenomenal work for 6/7 years. It was my first formal intro to Quality, management development area and it was Vinod who taught me the basics, in his most unassuming ways. I shall always cherish the joint training programs / organisational interventions we did together for different clients. We developed such camaraderie and mutual respect for each other. Became friends at personal level. Both Lata and he used to regularly attend our annual holi and diwali bashes. When I came back from the Gulf in 2016, he was the first person I contacted for tips on setting up my Leadership practice. We sipped coffee for hours as he gave me ideas, leads and links. Shall never forget this.
