Victorine's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victorine Celine Helberg, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this world on August 15, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

Born on April 2, 1953 in Paramaribo, Suriname, Victorine was the youngest of nine siblings. She moved to the United States in 1969 where she attended Walt Whitman High School. After graduation, she studied at Suffolk Community College and then transferred to Stony Brook University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 1977, she started working at Albert Einstein Hospital and spent 42 years as a dedicated NICU nurse, retiring in 2019. Victorine embraced life with determination and grace, overcoming challenges while embracing both of her roles as a mother and NICU nurse with unwavering devotion. Her journey was one of resilience and selflessness as she navigated all of life’s trials while ensuring the well-being and happiness of not only her own children, but also the children she saved throughout her illustrious career.

Victorine was not only a mother but a true inspiration. Her love knew no bounds, and she worked tirelessly to provide for her family, showering them with affection, guidance, and support. Her compassion extended way beyond her immediate family. Victorine was known for her kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need. Her generosity touched the lives of many, and her legacy of compassion will continue to live on through all of those she has blessed along the way.

Victorine is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth and Robert, and will forever be remembered by her family, as well as her countless friends and loved ones.

While we mourn the loss of Victorine, let us also celebrate the life she lived. She taught us the value of resilience and the power of unconditional love. As we grieve her passing, may we find solace in the memories we shared and the love she leaves behind. Let us remember her with smiles and gratitude for the time we were blessed to have her in our lives. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire us all.

Rest in peace, Victorine. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
