Vicki's obituary

In Loving Memory of Victoria (Vicki) Lee Tasoff

October 26, 1949 – June 14, 2025

Victoria (Vicki) Lee Tasoff, born Victoria Lee Skaggs, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at the age of 75. A woman of great faith, kindness, and boundless love, Vicki leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, and a life fully and beautifully lived.

Born in Bakersfield, California, to JD and Lela Skaggs, Vicki spent her early years there before pursuing a lifelong calling in nursing. She began her journey in healthcare as a candy striper in high school and went on to become a dedicated nurse for 45 years, providing gentle and unwavering care to countless patients. While her heart always remained in Bakersfield—where she lived during her early years and returned in the last decade of her life—Vicki spent most of her adult years in San Pedro, California, a place she called home.

Vicki married the love of her life, Jack Tasoff, and they shared 28 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. She faithfully visited Morro Bay each year with her sister, Debbie, in his memory and now looks forward to joining him in the sea at Crystal Cove, Orange County—a final resting place fitting for a soul who loved both the mountains and the ocean.

Vicki is survived by her loving daughter, Dana Bancroft; cherished grandchildren Shelby Miller, Shane Miller, and Sawyer Bancroft; sister Deborah (Debbie) Black and her husband Todd Black; brother Jim Skaggs and his wife Lorraine Skaggs. She was deeply loved by her nieces Mary Norton and Tracey Spears, Kellie Saiz, and her nephew Jason Skaggs. Her constant companion, her beloved Yorkie, Sammi, was always by her side, a true reflection of Vicki’s gentle spirit and nurturing heart.

Vicki's life was a vibrant tapestry of interests and passions. She was deeply involved in her church, participating in prayer groups, sewing circles, and advocating fiercely against human trafficking. Her faith never wavered and was the foundation of her joyful and generous nature.

She found beauty and inspiration in the world around her. A lover of birdwatching, watercolor painting, crafting, and gardening, Vicki had an eye for detail and a heart open to wonder. She delighted in the magic of Christmas, the enchantment of Disneyland—especially anything Minnie Mouse—and the serenity of both mountains and sea. A true explorer and foodie, Vicki loved to travel, both near and far, embracing new cultures and experiences with childlike curiosity and joy.

She also had a passion for collecting art and artifacts, particularly pieces from the Navajo people, appreciating the stories and spirit behind each work. Her home was a reflection of her soul—warm, eclectic, and full of life.

Vicki had a kind heart and never spoke ill of others. She was known for her radiant smile, a generous spirit, and a sense of humor that could fill a room with laughter—especially her unforgettable belly laughs. She brought joy and comfort to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression of grace, strength, and love.

Her family and friends./ will carry her memory in their hearts forever, honoring her legacy by living with faith, kindnv[=ess, and the same adventurous spirit she brought to every momenA celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on July 25, 2025 at The Summit- Canyon Hills Assembly of God: 7001 Auburn Bakersfield, CA 93306 with a reception to follow at The Lodge at Four Seasons in City of the Hills.
