Victor's obituary

Victor Erwin Rice, 70 years young of San Rafael, California, passed away suddenly at his home on January 20, 2022.    Vic loved  life.  He loved his family; his work life and just waking up to the new day.   Vic grew up in Palos Verdes, California, where he learned to surf at nearby surf spot San Onofre.  Later,  during his early high school years, Vic and his family moved to Prescott, Arizona, where he excelled in sports and earned  fame in football and baseball.  Vic attended Santa Clara University graduating in 1973 with a (BSIB), Bachelor of Science in International Business.  He was a star player on the Rugby team as well as on and off the field.  After graduating college, Vic was soon partnered with business  colleague and long-time friend, Bill Gleason, establishing Pacific Forest Resources, a global recycling and paper products company.  Several years later they merged with Swedish company, CellMark AB, and since have enjoyed 38 successful years as the global leader in their industry.  An avid sportsman and internationally known race car driver, Vic has traveled the globe racing in countries such as  Germany (Nurburgring), United Arab Emirates, (Dubai), Australia (Adelaide), France (Le Mans), England (Spa and Silverstone), Spain (Barcelona), Canada (Montreal), and throughout the United States. Racing was his passion and he podiumed many times during his racing career. He also loved to cycle, golf, snow ski, scuba, waterski and just about any sport that would come his  way.  Always up for an adventure, Vic lived a wonderful and exciting life.  Vic will be dearly missed and always remembered. Vic  was predeceased by his mother Amalia Maria Moreno-Garcia of Malaga, Spain, father Erwin Glover Rice of Palos Verdes, California,  and sister Miriam Rice, of Arenas de San Pedro, Spain.  He is s survived by his wife, Corrine, his son, Jeffrey, his step-son, Peter Patrakis, and brother Jaime Rice (Paige Procter), sister Mazie Rice (Dave Gutierrez) and sister Marisa Comach.  Nieces Tess and Maria Gonzales (Miriam),  nephews Spencer Johnson (Mazie) and Michael and Tyler Comach (Marisa). The family requested a celebration of life be held in Vic’s honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Vic’s friends and loved ones to join us in celebrating his  beautiful life at The Peacock Golf Country Club on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1:00pm to 5:00pm.  Appetizers and cocktails to be served.
