Vickie's obituary
Vickie Diane (Patterson) Sudduth, 68, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Friday, February 24th, 2023. She was born on August 8, 1954 in Topeka to Melvin and Maxine Patterson. She was the oldest sister of Valerie Jo, Lori Ann and Melvin Patterson, Jr.
Vickie graduated from Highland Park High School in 1972. She started at Hill’s Pet Nutrition in 1981 and spent the next 30 years working as an Executive Assistant to multiple Vice Presidents. During her years at Hill’s, she formed some amazing friendships. She spent most lunch hours watching her soap opera with a special group of ladies that became known as the DOL (Days of Our Lives) Crew.
Later in life she decided to pursue the goal of completing her Bachelor’s degree, and in 2008 she graduated alongside her oldest daughter from Baker University. This was one of her proudest accomplishments. She was also proud of her long tenure with Hill’s, and later retired in 2011 after 3 decades with the company.
Vickie was loved tremendously by her two daughters, Courtney and Chelsey. They will cherish the memory of her warm and welcoming demeanor and her ability to light up a room with her smile. She was one of the easiest people to talk to and enjoyed having deep conversations, serving as a conversation buddy for many. Both girls inherited her love of good food, and often enjoyed dinners out. One of the best parts of retirement for Vickie was following along with the many activities of her grandchildren.
Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Melvin G. Patterson and her youngest sister, Lori Ann Patterson. She struggled greatly with the loss of both. She is survived by her mother, Maxine Patterson, her daughters, Courtney (Corey) and Chelsey, her grandchildren Sebastian, Camryn and Christian, her sister Valerie and Brother Melvin (Tammi), nieces Simone and Makenzi and former husband Charles Alan (Lynda) Sudduth. Not to be forgotten, her beloved grouchy cat, Mr. Binkley.
