Vickie's obituary

Vickie Aileen Pedersen passed away on July 15th, 2023 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Portland, OR after a short battle with cancer.  

She was born on April 8th, 1953 to Donald and Verna (Henderson) Schirmer of Myrtle Point, OR.  She graduated from North Salem High School in 1971, and in 2003, she earned her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Chemeketa Community College.  In between, Vickie worked for 19 years at Fairview Training Center in Salem, OR; she also worked at various times for Holiday Inn, SAIF Corporation, Vesta Corporation, and New Seasons Market.  On March 19th, 1983, Vickie married Richard Pedersen in Salem, OR; they separated in 1987.  

Vickie was an avid reader whose favorite retreat was into the pages of a book.  She was a prolific writer as well, with countless notebooks full of poems, songs, and short stories.  She also had at least two unfinished novels-in-progress, which she always dreamed of publishing one day.

Vickie is survived by her 2 daughters, Helayna Martinson and Anne Walton, her 5 grandchildren (Sarah, Joshua, Nathanael, Jacoby, and Adalyn), her younger sisters Donna Meenen and Sherri Cartee, her 5 nieces and nephews (Kayla, Kellie, Andrew, Michelle, and Allison), and her partner of 8 years, Randy Sage.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Donnie Neal, her younger brother Ernie, and her younger sister Kayleen Rene.
