Vicki's obituary

Vicki “Sug” Sturdivant, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest after a life well lived and joyfully shared.

She was born on October 17, 1952, in Wadesboro, North Carolina, to the late Hazel G. Sturdivant and John DeBerry. The youngest of four siblings,

Vicki’s brilliance and determination shone early. She excelled in her studies and carried that same passion and excellence throughout her life.

Vicki was married to Joseph R. Richardson, and together they were blessed with two daughters: Tiffany Davis of Riverdale, Georgia, and the late Kacy Adams of Killeen, Texas. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to: Jamar, Cameron, Christopher, and Thaddeaus; and a joyful great-grandmother to, Za’Dara Kacy Adams, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

After graduating from North Carolina A&T State University, Vicki moved to New York, where she built a successful career. She worked for CBS, HBJ Publishing, and later Henry Schein Medical, from which she retired with distinction. In 2017, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she enjoyed her well-deserved retirement surrounded by family and friends.

A woman of great discipline and strength, Vicki was a third-degree black belt in Nisei Goju Karate. She was known for her adventurous spirit, radiant smile, and infectious laughter. Anyone who knew her experienced her grand personality and unforgettable humor.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kacy; and her brothers: Donald and Jesse. She leaves to cherish her memory to her daughter, Tiffany (Alton) Davis; grandsons: Jamar, Cameron, Christopher, and Thaddeaus; great-granddaughter, Za’Dara; her loving sister, Sarah “Cookie” Phillips of Mount Vernon, New York; and a host of nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who will deeply miss her.

An active and faithful member of Reformation Atlanta Church, Vicki loved her church community and embodied grace, beauty, and faith. She will forever be remembered for her impeccable style, radiant inner and outer beauty, and humor that warmed every heart. Her light continues to shine brightly through the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
