Vernon Elijah Stubblefield, aged 90, passed away on November 7, 2024, in St. Louis, MO. Born on March 6, 1934, in Cassville, MO, he graduated from Cassville High School and later earned a Bachelors Degree from Wichita State.
Vern dedicated 25 years as a counselor in the Ladue School District, profoundly impacting the lives of countless students, parents, and faculty. He was particularly passionate about managing sixth-grade camp and canoeing in the boundary waters with students and family. His commitment to education was recognized in 1994 when he was named Suburban School District Middle School Counselor of the Year.
Vern is mourned by his loving wife, Carol, his sons, Scott (Melissa), and Stephen (Laura), his daughter, Susan Stroh (the late Bob Stroh), his stepson, Tom Wied (Marisa), and stepdaughter, Nancy Golliday (Wayne). His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepson, David Wied (Amy), and son-in-law, Bob Stroh (Susan).
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. To honor Vern giving spirit, donations in his memory can be made to The Salvation Army, the St. Louis Area Foodbank, or Shriners Children's Hospital of St. Louis.
