Vernell Smith was born the daughter of the late Luvenia G. Jordan and Henry A. Jordan Sr. Cairo, Illinois February 25, 1947, On Saturday, March 2nd, our Lord and Savior called our loved one Vernell Smith to his heavenly home. At 5:37 p.m. Vernell closed her eyes at home with her children and left this earthly life for eternal rest. At the time of her demise, she was 76 years and 7 days of age. Vernell joins her to three brothers Henry A. Jr., Amos Lee, and David, and two sistersTersia G. Johnson and Doris Houston. with children Evelyn Hicks, Barbara Hicks, Wendy Hicks, and Cecilia Jones. Grandchildren Luvenia R. Tyrus, Marjorie Y. Brown Sharonta Walls, LaTasha Walls, Shanika Williams, Jarvis Cobbs, Courtney Cobbs, Marcellous Hamilton, and LaQuonda Clark. Followed by great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Moved to California in 1965 and worked in electronics for 23 years. Vernell enjoyed playing cards and remained connected to numerous friends. She moved to Paducah, Kentucky in 2019 and returned to California in 2021.
