Venerando "Brando" Cruz, a man of great warmth, wit, and wisdom, passed away on February 8, 2026. Born on February 1, 1959, Venerando was better known as Brando among his friends and colleagues, but he cherished his given name. His rich life was colored by his love for his family, food, games, and travel.
Brando leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa Cruz, and his two children, Jessica and Christian Cruz along with their spouses Thomas and Daisy. His love extended to his grandson, Urijah Miranda, who was born in August 2020, and brought immense joy to his life.
Brando had a great love for food and drink; he had a particular fondness for steak, ribs, seafood, and lugau. He relished in the simple pleasures of a cup of coffee and the fizz of a Coke or Pepsi. His support was unwavering for the Los Angeles Lakers and he was known to find joy in playing mahjong and the occasional spin of the slot machine. In his times of recreation, he loved visiting the casino, fishing, or simply enjoying quality time with his family.
His appreciation for life extended to his love for travel, with his favorite vacation spots including Las Vegas, Hawaii, Barcelona, and Tokyo. He consistently described these experiences as some of the happiest times of his life.
Brando's personality was a unique blend of smart, funny, goofy, warm, loving, helpful, and caring; a truly magnanimous soul who touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity. His legacy will forever be one of love and support for his family and friends.
