You were a great mentor to me when I was a medical student and you were my senior resident. I’ll never forget the kindness and humour you brought to what was a tough time for me. Praying for you always.

We were in class 9, kids, class mates. A few of us including Manicks, Saila, my brother Prajit and I don't remember others...all of us stayed up all night at my house then in sadiq nagar, delhi. Most of that night...what we did was to audio record some crazy interview sessions posing as important dignitaries from various parts of the world on current affairs. Manicks ( Velu) was excellent at mimicking accents...from posing as a bengali, to an Arab to an Italian. My brother too. We were all in our elements. A master piece of an audio cassette ...a laughing riot..all night...totally high on friendship...not a drop of alcohol or anything. It was pure bonding. Manicks and I bonded well. We used to write to each other when we were in college. He in iit mumbai...I in gec thrissur...he came visiting to kerala once during his course to only to be with me. Took him to wayanad, my home town too. We've had very many memories together. Those were the days. Lost him in the last 15 years of his life. We largely chatted online. Calls and getting togethers stopped. I got caught up with my life situations and he with his. Life is a mystery. Miss you my dear Manicks!

He was a dear friend from school..Manicks..as I fondly called him...hit hard by his loss. I tried to connect up with him, many a times. Wanted to talk. Knocked many a times. He never had time. Now I know why. He only wanted to text. Gone too soon dear Manicks. You were something. Miss you loads. Can't still get over the fact that you are gone.

My most vivid memory of Velu is from the time when he and his family lived in West Lafayette, IN. Velu was really into photography at that time. He had a really keen eye for natural beauty, and his photos were wonderful. He actually exhibited them during an open gallery event one Fall. I remember coming with my husband to see his exhibit and seeing him surrounded by friends, family, and many visitors. He was dressed with a flare :), smiling. He was so obviously happy that day. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that he is gone. He was one of the sunniest people I knew.

Very saddened to hear Velu is no more. I will always remember his drive to become a doctor! The few times I met him I remember him as a funny, smart and caring person.

My deepest condolences to Anu and Vishak and Velu's family. Velu and I trained together in Iowa during CT fellowship. He was a caring source of skill, knowledge, and compassion for his patients and his team. He loved his family from the pictures abound on his desk. Velu left his mark on Iowa and our training program. He is missed.

I am shocked and horrified at this news! Just a few months ago, we were planning for a reunion back in St. Louis with a few of us who hung out together. When Velu was at Champaign, he'd frequently visit us - we've got so many memories of the good times we spent. He was the-energizer, the life of the party from what i can remember. We danced away many nites in our apartment. My heartfelt condolences to Anu and everyone in the family and please message me if there's absolutely anything I can help with. Velu will be TRULY MISSED by everyone who knew him. Rest In Peace Velu.
