Velma's obituary
Velma Luttrell, 97, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Rio Hondo, Texas. Originally from House Springs, Missouri, she was born on March 8, 1927, in Missouri.
Velma was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the outdoors. She was known for always having fresh tomatoes off the vine in her kitchen—grown with care from her own garden.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Turner of Rio Hondo and Linda Joslin of Michigan; her grandchildren, Patricia Turner of Byrnes Mill, Tracey Guthrie of Centerville, and Greg Joslin Sr.; and her great-grandchildren, Jessica Turner of Festus, Ashley Wilson of Barnhart, Meredith Guthrie of Hillsboro, Turner Guthrie of Soulard, Dakota Richardson, Greg Joslin Jr., and Trevor Joslin; and great-great grandchildren Harper and Amelia Wilson, Lainey Lester and Declan Greenlee. She also leaves behind her niece Jeanette Williamson Bailey and cousin Jack Weaver.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian (Weaver) Minor and Ernest Minor; her beloved partner William (Bill) Steele; her sisters Ethel and Marcella; her son-in-law Leroy (Roy) Joslin; and her grandchildren Leroy Joslin III and Ryan Joslin.
A celebration of Velma’s life will be held on April 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Cedar Hill Elks, located at 8430 Industrial Dr., Cedar Hill, Missouri, 63016. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to contact the family.
