Velda "Val"'s obituary

Velda (Val) Elaine Galloway, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, in Greer South Carolina following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. A loving, spiritual and strong woman who was loved by many.

Velda Elaine Sternitzky was born on July 21, 1938, in the town of Lynn, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Selma (Handke) Sternitzky.

She grew up in Lynn, graduating from Granton High School. She raised four children while working and putting herself through college earning a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, SD. She moved to Greenville, SC in 1984 and had a career in various aspects of design all the while enjoying travel and time with family and friends. She had an artistic side and enjoyed painting and especially writing poetry.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Greenville and a member of the Greenville Area Parkinson’s Society.
She leaves behind her loving children; Jeff Fedie and wife Judy of Grove, Oklahoma, Brian Fedie and wife Elena of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carmen Menza and husband Mark of Highland Village, Texas and Suzanne Byerly of Taylors, South Carolina, six grandchildren; Natalee, Nicco, Paxton, Max, Audrey and Julius, two brothers; Stanley Sternitzky and wife Karaleen, Rice Lake, WI, and Marvin Sternitzky and wife Roberta, Whitehall, WI, one brother in law; Jerry Schmitz, Granton, WI and many nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her loving parents and sister Lila Schmitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held:

A future celebration of life and final interment will be held at a TBD date this summer in Granton, WI.
