Velda Faye Ray, 76, of Chelsea, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her home. She was born on May 8, 1946, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Omer and Hazel Southern. She was a member of the First Church of God in Pryor and enjoyed the time she was able to spend there. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and taking any opportunity to go on vacation. She loved to travel and was always up for a good trip, especially when it came to Silver Dollar City in Branson. She leaves behind many wonderful memories for all to cherish and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service for Faye will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with family friends Zane Whitlow and Andrea Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at the Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor with Matt Cheatwood, Arthur Hitchcock, Xander Hitchcock, Buddy West, and Tom Franklin serving as casket bearers. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2022, at Shipman’s Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Ramsey Cheatwood of Chelsea; and granddaughter, Lillie Morain. She is preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Hazel Southern and ex-husband Norman Ramsey.
