Vanessa's obituary
Vanessa Suárez, 78, of Mission, TX, passed away in her home on October 22, 2023. She was born to Lorenzo Santana and Gladys Angers on May 13, 1945, in Puerto Rico.
Vannie Santana, as many knew her, was known for her intelligence, friendliness, Godliness, and generosity of spirit. She had a passion for learning and held a Library of Science Masters Degree from the University of Puerto Rico.
Vanessa had a diverse career, working as an elementary school teacher, librarian, and FBI linguist, after raising her three daughters as a stay-at-home mom.
Vanessa enjoyed being a member of the Friday Review Club and cherished the tradition of celebrating birthdays and enjoying lunches with friends.
Vanessa's faith was important to her, and she worshipped at Primera Iglesia Bautista, Sharyland under the leadership of Pastor Hugo Diaz and his wife Sanjuana Diaz. Before attending there, Vanessa attended Centro Familiar Cristiano El Buen Pastor under the guidance of Pastor Jaime & Gricell de la Garza. She maintained a close relationship with pastors from both churches.
She is preceded in death by both her parents. She is survived by her siblings, Robert Santana, Joe and Blanky Santana, Sammy Santana, and Maria Santana, as well as her three daughters Ilia Jones (Jeff), Damaris Kazmierczak (Joe), and Vane Arispe, as well as her favorite (and only) grandson, Harvard graduate, Collin Jones (Kelsey). (Vanessa would have wanted the Harvard part included here!)
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in honor of Vanessa. Further details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Vanessa would encourage all to donate tithes and offerings to your home church or a local church of your choice.
Please plan to join us in remembering and celebrating the life and legacy of Vanessa Suarez.
