Valerie grew up on the old highway (San Pablo Avenue) on a small ranch now the Dolan Lumber Property then moving to a house in Pinole Valley and graduated from De Anza High School. She retired from Contra Costa Unified School District and then decided to obtain a Bachelors degree at the age of 55. She enjoyed her time with her family, church and book club with her friends, and travel.

She is survived by daughter Wendy Kleinfeld-Barnes, son Steven Kleinfeld, daughter in-law Angela Kleinfeld, grandchildren Jordan, Jolie, Zachary, Makena, and Alaina, and close friend Ren Partridge.
